We removed our protective prisons
To feel the living earth again
Waddle like penguins over river rock
Dash deer-like through wet woods
Prickles in our paws
Mud clings to our claws
The wet sand was soft cake underfoot
Each step a yielding kiss
We removed our protective prisons
To feel the loving heart again
Sinking deeper into wild why not
Leaning in towards the kind of
Kisses we deserve
Electric tingling nerves
And deep warm lakes of cleansing
Where both our ferns unfurl.
