Eye Be Held

.

Deeper I fall into her wild eyes
And I’m native to myself again
Like running downhill
‘Neath vanilla skies.

Love unlocks an allowing
That was elusive before
Mystic wisdom crumbles like
Sandcastles into the shore.

The pieces I thought didn’t fit
Click into joyous home-coming
Like white doves long flown
Grass fresh mown
Upon which we roll, wrestle, and sit.

Deeper I fall into her wild mind
A half-known home, so far to explore
The edge of two mingling forests
Unmapped where one begins

And another ends:
Dawn off-kilter chorussed
An exotic roar
A flower of unique kind.

Larks in my heart
Perched upon harp strings
I’m scared sacred
Of the bitter sting

Opening boxes of forgotten things
Found something holy
Gently reel it in
Don’t break it.

Falling in love with myself again
With the world reflecting
In her wild eyes.
